Functional Medicine

A step up from the functional nutrition service.

In addition to a personalized nutrition plan and improvement in lifestyle practices and basic labs, we will use functional labs to really get down to the root cause of what is causing your symptoms. Is it mold, leaky gut, toxins, or a genetic change? You cannot really know unless it is tested for. Once we know the exact cause, we can treat it.

Conventional medicine for any condition may be the best, but it is only partial care without considering the whole person. I have learned that we are all unique, everything is connected, and all things matter. There are many gaps in conventional care. It is those gaps I wish to fill- to bridge. There is no one pill. There is no fool-proof diet or protocol.

We have an epidemic of chronic illnesses. These diseases present with a myriad of signs and symptoms that are treated. Some may get better while on medications, but others do not.  Why? This happens because we are not getting down to the root causes of the problem. Once we can identify those, we can make some headway in improving and, hopefully, if possible, resolving completely the chronic illness one is dealing with.

I will be looking at you, the whole person, including all aspects of your lifestyle. Working together, we will devise a plan that will work towards you attaining optimal health. We will be dealing with all factors affecting your health, wellness, and disease; physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental.

We can work towards improving your health by using basic labs that we use in conventional medicine, nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle changes. Modifying diet and lifestyle factors will improve the internal terrain (the biological environment) in which your disease/diseases took root. Educating you and making recommendations on what nutritional and lifestyle practices to change in conjunction with supplements when needed will result in you attaining optimal health; now a fact for you-no longer a phantom.

In addition, I will be recommending functional labs based on your condition. These labs will be looking at your genes, hormones, environment (toxic load), gut, food sensitivities, and level of inflammation and oxidative stress. Only with these labs can we make your plan to attain optimal health fully personalized; when your mind, spirit, and body are truly balanced.

This new knowledge must be put into practice for this to work.  Let me work alongside you, and let's see what changes we can make in your health.

 FAQs

  • Functional medicine is an approach to healthcare that aims to identify and address the root causes of illness or imbalances in the body. By understanding the underlying factors contributing to health issues, functional medicine aims to restore optimal health and well-being.

  • Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on managing symptoms through medications or surgeries, functional medicine takes a more holistic and patient-centered approach. It emphasizes personalized care, in-depth patient consultations, and advanced laboratory testing to uncover underlying imbalances. Functional medicine seeks to promote wellness by addressing the root causes of health issues rather than just treating the symptoms.

  • During a functional medicine consultation, you can expect a thorough evaluation of your medical history, lifestyle, and environmental factors that may be contributing to your health concerns.
